CROSS COUNTRY (Tablelands District and School)
Nine podium finishers secure consecutive District Championships. Mareeba State High School nudged out Saint Stephens for the second year in a row to win the District Cross Country Trials last week. The dominance of the 15 years age group runners – Brock Hawke, Joshua Pin and Matthew Lep helped our final tally reach 223 points ahead of Saint Stephens on 186, Malanda 153 and forth place Atherton on 127.
The Regional trials will be between 10am and 12.30am on the Mareeba Course on Tuesday 22nd May.
Our School Cross Country saw the 16 year old boys take 4 of the coveted top 10 places leading to Damien Barbir in 4th place sharing the Random Cash prize with year 8 female runner Erin Phillott.
Being a fixed distance for the past 12 years, our school course is a firm indicator of the strength of our cross country team. Brock Hawke stormed into 7th place on the legends board whilst girls winner Tegan Parker edged into 2nd place legends position with a slick 15:50.
